Clearer, Smoother, Brighter Skin

The skin is a protective barrier constantly exposed to harsh UV rays, environmental pollutants, bacteria, acne breakouts, injuries, and other impurities. Over time, after being constantly assailed by numerous external forces, the skin develops a rough, dull, and tired-looking appearance. Furthermore, age also takes a toll on your skin as the gradual loss of collagen leads to the onset of facial wrinkles and creases. Laser skin resurfacing is a non-invasive means of revitalizing your complexion, helping you achieve clear, smooth, blemish-free skin.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser skin resurfacing is a non-invasive skin rejuvenation technique that involves channeling calibrated wavelengths of laser energy into the skin. We perform laser skin resurfacing using an Erbium YAG laser device, which is suitable for both ablative and non-ablative treatments. Ablative laser resurfacing is a little more aggressive — it involves exfoliating the uppermost layers of the skin’s surface to reveal smoother skin underneath. And non-ablation laser resurfacing stimulates collagen production to make your skin look firm and taut.

Laser Skin Resurfacing Targets:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin laxity
  • Sagging skin
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Rough and dull skin
  • Textural irregularities
  • Acne scarring
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Pigmented lesions
  • Broken capillaries
  • Redness and rosacea
  • Dull complexion

Types of Laser Skin Resurfacing

Non-Ablative Laser Skin Resurfacing
Non-ablative laser resurfacing is a less aggressive treatment that involves using a laser to heat the deep dermis to stimulate collagen production. Collagen is a fibrous protein that makes your skin look firm, taut, and youthful. Over time, as your body produces new collagen fibers, your skin looks smoother, softer, and firmer, with minimal side effects.

Ablative Laser Skin Resurfacing
Ablative laser resurfacing is the more aggressive of the two types. It involves removing the uppermost layers of skin using laser energy to reveal smoother, softer, and more youthful skin underneath. This can effectively treat deep wrinkles, scars, and other blemishes, but it can also lead to more side effects, such as redness, swelling, and crusting.

Benefits of Laser Skin Resurfacing:

  • Non-invasive skin rejuvenation
  • Personalized according to your skin type
  • Minimal discomfort during the treatment
  • Improves overall skin tone and texture
  • Stimulates natural collagen production
  • Minimal post-treatment side effects
  • No post-treatment downtime
  • Resurface and reveal healthier skin cells

Laser Skin Resurfacing FAQs

Am I a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing?

The best candidates for laser skin resurfacing are people with wrinkles, fine lines, or other imperfections that they would like to improve. Individuals with darker skin tones have a slightly higher risk of hyperpigmentation, but we always calibrate the laser device to ensure consistent results. Our medical providers will evaluate your skin to determine if you’re a candidate.

What happens during the laser skin resurfacing session?

During laser skin resurfacing, the medical provider will cleanse your facial skin and calibrate the Erbium laser device according to your skin type and needs. The handheld laser device is moved across the targeted treatment areas to deliver laser energy into your skin. You might feel the sensation of a rubber band snapping against your skin, but the discomfort is minimal. The treatment concludes within an hour.

What are the side effects of laser skin resurfacing?

The most common side effects of laser skin resurfacing are redness, swelling, and blistering. Your skin might also look slightly sunburnt for a few days. These side effects usually resolve within a few days or weeks, depending on ablative or non-ablative resurfacing.

Is there any downtime?

Non-ablative laser skin resurfacing doesn’t involve any downtime, but ablative laser skin resurfacing may involve a social downtime of 7 days. During this period, you must avoid strenuous workouts, direct sunlight, exfoliation, and harsh skin products and chemicals. You must also wear SPF 30+ sunscreen and use gentle moisturizers to protect your skin.

When will I see the results?

You will see significant improvements after just one treatment, but you may need 3 or more sessions to achieve the desired results. The results improve after each session.
